It exists to be of service to schools and parish schools of religion within the Archdiocese of New Orleans and offers young Catholics an opportunity to grow in faith through mission education, sacrifice and service of others.

MCA- A Pontifical Mission Society, focuses entirely on "children helping children" throughout the world. It exists to be of service to schools and parish schools of religion within the Archdiocese of New Orleans and offers young Catholics an opportunity to grow in faith through mission education, sacrifice and service of others. They become the Ambassadors for MCA helping to spead the "Good News" of Christ.
Mission Education Goals: to educate young adults and children of the Archdiocese in order to instill:► an ongoing conversion of the heart and life of Christ
► a familiarity with the Church's evolving teaching on mission
► an appreciation and respect for other cultures and values
► an awareness of the inter-relatedness of global peace and justice issues

Forming Missionary Disciples

Every baptized person is called to spread the Good News, through word and action, wherever God has placed them. Membership in the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) brings the needs of the world’s children into classrooms and calls students to reach out in faith to the marginalized beyond all borders.
MCA teaches your students to be missionaries without leaving home – we help you to grow Stationary Missionaries who become Ambassadors for MCA!The missions will come to life with a visit from the Missionary Childhood Association!
Take a “tour” of the world in a class period and find out how your students’ prayers and sacrifices are making a difference for children in the missions and in themselves.
Mission Animation presentations in your school are available for grades Pre-K through 7. Presentations can be for either an individual class or a whole school assembly.

Children'sMission Day October 17, 2026
What is Children's Mission Day (CMD)? In it's 33rd year, CMD is a special event for students in catholic schools to come together to celebrate their baptismal call to be missionary. Students from grades 3 - 7 are invited to participate in a day of prayer, music, dance, educational activities, and guest speakers who share their mission stories from around the world. Mass will also be celebrated by Rev. Wayne C. Paysse.
Our theme this year is the "One in Christ, united in mission" , celebrating 33 years of CMD.

LentenMission Assemblies
Lenten Mission Assemblies (LMA) are an opportunity for catholic schools from regional areas to gather and grow in global awareness. World games, music and information on our Church-in-Mission are part of the day's learning and fun-filled experiences. It is hosted by four schools in different regions each year during Lent from 9:30 - 12:30.
Dates: February 23, 24, 26, 27.

National Christmas Card Contest
Announcing the 2026-2027 Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) National Christmas Artwork Contest! Twenty-four winners will be selected in this national competition, which includes two grand-prize winners.
All winners receive a commemorative plaque; grand-prize winners will have their artwork appear as the official Christmas card of the National Office of the Pontifical Mission Societies. Winners are celebrated each December.
National contest winners will be notified in late spring 2027 and announced to Catholic media in fall 2027.

MCA 33rd Annual Toy ContestTheme: Mission Transportation
veen to grades 1-7 students are encouraged to make a toy out of recycled materials.
Kids in mission countries don't have the means to purchase toys so they have to become creative. They find old shoe parts, cans, bottles, wire, string, etc and create an object for a little fun.
Students within the Archdiocese of New Orleans create a toy from unconventional materials.
The theme this year "Mission on the Move" sounds like it could bring lots of creativity and fun for the artist.
Three entries will be accepted from each school and the toys become the property of the Mission Office.
The entrants will receive a Certificate of Participation and the toys will travel to the Lenten Mission Assemblies in four areas of the Archdiocese. This way students within the archdiocese will have an opportunity to test the toys out.Toys are due into the MCA Mission Office, February 27, 2027.
