Missionary Rose Petals of St. Therese
- Missionaries of St. Therese Celebrating 80 Years
  
  The Missionaries of St. Therese, founded in New Orleans on July 15, 1945, and originally known as the "Missionary Rose Petals of St. Therese", has as its purpose to offer spiritual and financial assistance to the missionary work of the Church.
  
  • The "Missionaries of St. Therese" is under the auspices of the Pontifical Mission Society of Saint Peter Apostle.
  • It enables Catholics to live out more fully their baptismal commitment to make the message of Christ known "to the ends of the earth". (Acts 1:8)
  • Members commit themselves to daily prayer for the missionary work of Christ through the Church.
  • It assists developing countries in providing resources for native clergy, and for women/men religious.
  • It aids needy parishes in the Archdiocese of New Orleans, which are considered missionary and it enables them to develop more adequate religious education programs.
  
  The program is organized into "Circles" each of which is led by a Secretary. Monthly meetings are held and activities are coordinated by the Circle. Each member shares in the prayers and Masses offered by missionaries, seminarians and novices throughout the world and by the Archdiocesan Director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.

  ► Help Answer Their Call-
  Vocations to the priesthood and Religious life are growing in the Developing World. The typical mission seminarian is from a poor family. The seminarian's family contributes the little it can; his bishop is hard-pressed for funds; the people this young man will serve once ordained a priest are also often struggling merely to survive.
  
  The Society of St. Peter Apostle is the instrument of the Holy Father, the bishops and all in the Church to provide spiritual and financial assistance to seminarians of the Developing World.
  
  A year’s help for a mission seminarian is $700. Maybe you could send that amount, or something toward it. Perhaps you could offer a week’s support of $35 — that's $5 a day. Whatever amount you can send will be treasured.

Prayer for Missionary Vocations

Lord Jesus you have told us; “the harvest is plenty and the workers are few.”
We see and hear of this reality in so many parts of our world, especially in areas of poverty, persecution and war. From South America, Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands so many of your children long to hear the Good News preached to them. Many who have come to believe wait longingly for priest, religious and laity of the church to help deepen and nourish this wondrous seed that has been planted.

In union with our beloved St. Therese we offer our prayers and sacrifices this day for an increase in vocations to priesthood and religious life in missionary regions of our world today. We pray that we may all, as members of the Body of Christ, do our part in supporting the spread of the Gospel to the “Ends of the Earth”.

We ask your blessings upon us, your daughters and sons, who join together in circles of prayer. Unite us in common service and love. Nourish our circles that we may grow in unity, thus increasing in number and zeal. May all our sacrifices and generosity support the work of your harvest.
